In this tutorial, we will see how to install the Meow Gnome menu manager/editor under Ubuntu 16.10/16.04 and Linux Mint 18 or older.

Meow Installation

Install first these dependencies:

echo "deb https://dl.bintray.com/sbt/debian /" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/sbt.list 
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80 --recv 642AC823 
sudo apt update 
sudo apt install -f openjdk-8-jdk git sbt

Then install Meow using these commands:

wget https://goo.gl/HFvzOt -O meow_1.0_all.deb 
sudo dpkg -i --force-depends meow_1.0_all.deb

Or, you can install Meow using these commands:

git clone https://github.com/pnmougel/meow.git 
cd meow 
sbt run

Start Meow from Unity Dash:
