In this brief tutorial, we will see how to easily enable Ubuntu Extra Repositories for Ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet). With these repositories enabled, your system will be updated with latest Ubuntu software updates and any security patches provided by Canonical Partners.

Getting Started

Launching Software Sources:

You can start Software Sources either from the terminal with this command:

sudo software-properties-gtk

Or from System Settings window by double-clicking 'Software & Updates':

In the window that pops-up, tick all Canonical repositories in Ubuntu Software and Other Software tabs:

Enabling Main Server (Optional)

Before closing the Software Sources window, you can enable the maim server if you get some errors when updating your packages or cannot install some packages. To do this, in the Ubuntu Software tab, select:

Download from: Main Server

Close now the window and run this command so that your system gets new updates from selected repositories:

sudo apt-get update
