Internet Friendly Media Encoder is a powerful video encoder that allows users to convert their favorite videos to the last new video codec (H.265) using x265. With this tool you will be able to compress your video files to up to 50% which will reduce half of your files size without losing the original quality of your videos.

IFME is not available in the official Ubuntu repository so we added it to our PPA for easier installation. You can find full information about this video encoder here.

Internet Friendly Media Encoder Installation (64-bit platforms)

To install IFME under Ubuntu 15.04/14.10 or older, enter these commands:

sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:upubuntu-com/multimedia 
sudo apt-get update 
sudo apt-get install ifme

You can run the application via Dash:

For Linux Mint 17.1 or any other Ubuntu-based distros, you can install IFME using these commands:

cd /tmp 
wget http://goo.gl/4wFXtO -O ifme_amd64.deb 
sudo dpkg -i --force-depends ifme_amd64.deb 
sudo apt-get -f install
