HP Linux Imaging and Printing (HPLIP) is a software that contains print, fax, and scan drivers for about 2,295 HP printers under Linux-based systems. If you have alreday installed HPLIP software in your OS, you may need to install or upgrade to the newer version which reached 3.14.1. To check what have been fixed in this latest release, go here.

In this tutorial, we will help you install HPLIP 3.14.1 in the following distributions:

  • Ubuntu 13.10/13.04/12.10 or older
  • Linux Mint 16/15/14 or older
HPLIP 3.14.1 Installation

open the terminal and issue these commands:

cd /tmp 
wget http://goo.gl/ET6mxz -O hplip-3.14.1.run 
chmod +x hplip-3.14.1.run 
./hplip-3.14.1.run

Then follow setup instructions.
