Another update for Kernel 3.9 series has been released recently which we will see how to install it in Ubuntu/Linux Mint systems. Kernel 3.9.8 brings the following fixes:

  •     ALSA: hda - Fix pin configurations for MacBook Air 4,2
  •     ALSA: usb-audio: Fix invalid volume resolution for Logitech HD Webcam c310
  •     ARM: 7754/1: Fix the CPU ID and the mask associated to the PJ4B
  •     ipv4: fix redirect handling for TCP packets
  •     tcp: xps: fix reordering issues
  •     r8169: fix offloaded tx checksum for small packets.
  •     ipv6: fix possible crashes in ip6_cork_release()
  •     ACPI / PM: Fix error code path for power resources initialization
  •     rtlwifi: rtl8192cu: Fix problem in connecting to WEP or WPA(1) networks
  •     tty: Fix transient pty write() EIO
  •     firmware loader: fix use-after-free by double abort

Linux Kernel 3.9.8 Installation

As usual, you need to enter the following commands on the terminal:

cd /tmp 
wget -O kernel-3.9.8 
chmod +x kernel-3.9.8 
sudo sh kernel-3.9.8 
sudo reboot

To uninstall kernel 3.9.8 from Ubuntu/Linux Mint, enter this command:

 sudo apt-get purge linux-image-3.9.8*
