In this tutorial we will introduce more icon themes for Ubuntu that will pretty up your system with amazing set of icons. To enable these icon themes, you may use MyUnity, Gnome Tweak Tool, or terminal as given below. Add firstly this PPA to be able to install the different icon themes:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:upubuntu-com/icons 
sudo apt-get update

The PPA is compatible with the following Ubuntu/Linux Mint distributions:

  • Ubuntu 12.10/12.04/11.10
  • Linux Mint 13 (Maya)
Getting Started

   1. Sphere Icon Theme

sudo apt-get install sphere-icons
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface icon-theme 'Sphere 1.2'


   2. FaenK Icon Theme

sudo apt-get install faenk-icons

- FaenK Black

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface icon-theme 'FaenKfolder-black'

- FaenK Gray

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface icon-theme 'FaenKfolder-gray'

- FaenK Blue

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface icon-theme 'FaenKfolder-blue'

   3. hydroxygen Icon Theme


sudo apt-get install hydroxygen-icons 
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface icon-theme 'hydroxygen'

   4. Candy Icon Theme (Beta)


sudo apt-get install candy-icons 
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface icon-theme 'Candy'

   5. Betelgeuse Icon Theme

sudo apt-get install betelgeuse-icons
