Conky Cronograph Station is an amazing good-looking clock that displays your local weather on your desktop. To make it easy installing Conky Cronograph Station on Ubuntu 12.10/12.04/11.10, I have packaged it in a PPA.

Conky Cronograph Station Installation

Open the terminal and install Conky Cronograph Station with these commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:upubuntu-com/conky

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install conky-cronograph-station

Conky Cronograph Station Configuration

Before starting the clock, let's first configure the weather settings for your own city. Go to this website and search for weather of your city using the search box:

Now copy the URL obtained in the address bar of your web browser. Via the terminal, run this command to edit the weather's file:

sudo gedit /usr/bin/cronograph/accuweather/accuw_script

Scroll down and replace the URL displayed under this line with the one obtained above:

#put your Accuweather address here

Save your file and exit. You can now start the clock from the Unity dash:

Wait for a few seconds (about 25 seconds) and the clock will show up on your desktop. To close it, you can simply run this command from the terminal:

killall conky

Note: This clock looks better with dark desktop backgrounds.
