There are many Ubuntu users that tend to use Gnome Classic instead of Unity. A good feature in Gnome Classic is that it allows users to drag applications to the top bar to create a shortcut icon for quick access:

Some users find it difficult to remove these icons from the top bar and even when right-clicking the shortcut icon, they don't get the action to delete it:

To be able to delete any shortcut icon under Ubuntu 12.04/11.10 with Gnome Classic enabled, you need to press Windows Key + ALT and right-click the icon to delete it:
