If you prefer dark themes under Ubuntu, then I suggest that you try Atolm-gtk3, a GTK3 theme compatible with Unity and Gnome Shell. Here is a screenshot of it under Ubuntu 12.04 (Precise Pangolin):

Atolm-gtk3 Installation

If you haven't already created the ".themes" folder in your home directory, then do with this command:

mkdir ~/.themes

Then install and enable the theme with these commands:

cd /tmp && wget -O atolm_gtk3.zip http://goo.gl/hludu

unzip atolm_gtk3.zip && tar -xzvf Atolm-gtk3.tar.gz -C ~/.themes

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface gtk-theme 'Atolm-gtk3'

gconftool-2 --set --type string /apps/metacity/general/theme 'Atolm-gtk3'

Atolm-gtk3 credits go here.

Note: Tested on Ubuntu 11.10/12.04.
