AutoREALM is a Windows role-playing game mapping software (Cartographer) that allows users to design maps of cities, castles, dungeons, etc. If you want to run this mapping program under Ubuntu, you need to install first an emulation software like Wine to be able to run Windows software on a Linux-based system.

Wine Installation

To install Wine (currently 1.4) on Ubuntu, open the terminal and run the following commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install wine1.3

AutoREALM Installation

Start now the installation of AutoREALM under Ubuntu 11.10/12.04 with the following command:

cd /tmp && wget -O AR221Setup.exe http://goo.gl/xEaFD && wine AR221Setup.exe

Then follow setup instructions:
