In this page we will help you install three different themes for Ubuntu compatible with Gnome desktop environments. The installation will be done via the terminal, no need to use Gnome Tweak Tool to enable these themes.

1. DarkRain Installation (GTK2):

DarkRain is a GTK 2 theme for the Gnome desktop, you can install it with these commands:

cd /tmp && wget -O darkrain.zip http://goo.gl/gkCMk

sudo unzip darkrain.zip

sudo tar -xzvf /tmp/DarkRain/DarkRain.tar.gz -C /usr/share/themes

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface gtk-theme 'DarkRain'

gconftool-2 --set --type string /apps/metacity/general/theme 'DarkRain'

2. Slinx II Installation:

Slinx II is a GTK3 theme that can be used with Gnome Shell and Unity. You can install it with the following commands:

cd /tmp && wget -O Slinx-II.tar.gz http://goo.gl/zXreH

sudo tar -xzvf Slinx-II.tar.gz -C /usr/share/themes

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface gtk-theme 'Slinx II'

gconftool-2 --set --type string /apps/metacity/general/theme 'Slinx II'

3. freeOSX2 Installation (GTK2):

FreeOSX 2 is a GTK2 theme inspired by Mac OS X. To install it under Ubuntu, run these commands:

cd /tmp && wget -O FreeOSX.tar.gz http://goo.gl/tGF0t

sudo tar -xzvf FreeOSX.tar.gz -C /usr/share/themes

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface gtk-theme 'FreeOSX'

gconftool-2 --set --type string /apps/metacity/general/theme 'FreeOSX'
