dupeGuru PE (Picture Edition) is a lightweight tool that scans your computer folders to find duplicate pictures. This software has functions similar to that of dupeGuru, but it is mainly designed to detect duplicate images.

With dupeGuru PE, you can find duplicate pictures among the various image file formats (GIF, PNG, JPG, BMP, etc.) and even can find duplicates depending on pictures quality. To install dupeGuru PE (v2.4.0) on Ubuntu 11.10/11.04, open the terminal and install first this dependency:

sudo apt-get install python3

Then install the tool with these commands for Ubuntu i386 (32-bit):

wget -O dupeguru-pe_2.4.0_i386.deb http://goo.gl/8Ixqa
sudo dpkg -i dupeguru-pe_2.4.0_i386.deb

For Ubuntu amd64 (64-bit), install with these commands:

wget -O dupeguru-pe_2.4.0_amd64.deb http://goo.gl/HkG8v
sudo dpkg -i dupeguru-pe_2.4.0_amd64.deb

Use then the Unity Dash to start dupeGuru PE. Use the add button (+) to add folder(s) and hit Scan to start scanning for image duplicates. When the scan is complete, a window will pop up containing all detected duplicate image files:

That's it!
