PieDock is simply a taskbar and application launcher having the shape of a pie, it is similar to Gnome Pie. In this page we will see how to install PieDock (1.4.2) under Ubuntu 11.10/11.04. Before we start, your system must have all compilation requirements to be able to install from source.

PieDock Installation

Open the terminal and run the following commands:

wget -O PieDock-1.4.2.tar.bz2 http://goo.gl/lg9I8

tar jxvf PieDock-1.4.2.tar.bz2 && cd PieDock-1.4.2

./configure && make

sudo make install


You can now start PieDock with this command from the terminal:


To show up this app launcher, you can use these combination of keys:

  • Windows-key + left mouse button
  • Windows-key + scroll wheel up
  • Windows-key + scroll wheel down
