In this guide we will help you install three different icon themes under Ubuntu 11.10/11.04 or any other version of Ubuntu. Despite these icon themes are not fully compatible with latest GNOME desktop releases, their designer stated that he will do his best to update them, you can check his website here for latest updates.


1. Gion Icon Theme Installation

Open the terminal and download and install the Gion icon theme with these commands:

wget -O Gion-0.1.2.tar.bz2 http://goo.gl/HQAHx
sudo tar jxvf Gion-0.1.2.tar.bz2 -C /usr/share/icons/
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface icon-theme 'Gion'


2. Nou Icon Theme Installation

Run these commands:

wget -O Nou-090208.tar.bz2 http://goo.gl/Xf6zQ
sudo tar jxvf Nou-090208.tar.bz2 -C /usr/share/icons/
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface icon-theme 'Nou'


3. Neu Icon Theme Installation

Use these commands:

wget -O Neu-0.6-PR3.tar.bz2 http://goo.gl/ifZlH
sudo tar jxvf Neu-0.6-PR3.tar.bz2 -C /usr/share/icons/
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface icon-theme 'Neu'
