We have already talked about the installation of the Desura game client under Ubuntu, you can check it here. The new information about this game client is that it is now open source, a news announced by Desura developers.
This open source edition is given the name "Desurium", which is a step aiming at giving their community members the possibility to modify the source code. This will be very important because it will enable users to share their ideas in the improvement of the game client so that they can deal with bugs faster and add new features.
Desura is simply a cross-platform game client inspired by Steam (Valve) which offers a considerable number of paid and free games under Windows, Mac OS X or Linux-based systems. The source code for Desurium can be found on this link, which is licensed under the GPLv3, and you should know that the Desura server is still closed source.
