In this mini guide we will see two useful applications for viewing files having the CHM format (Microsoft Compiled HTML Help) under Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot.

The first application is kchmviewer, which is a chm viewer for KDE, but it can be also used on Unity with some minor appearance problems. You can install it with this command:

sudo apt-get install kchmviewer

The second chm file viewer is xCHM which can be used on any desktop environment. To install it on Ubuntu 11.10, run this command from the terminal:

sudo apt-get install xchm

That's it!
