In this tutorial we will learn how to show hidden files/folders on Ubuntu. We will also learn how to create a hidden file/folder on Ubuntu.
By default, Ubuntu is configured to not display hidden files and folders, and to make them visible, browse simply to any folder on your hard drive (Home folder for example) and press CTRL+H. All hidden files and sub-folders on that folder will now be displayed for you, they start with a dot (.).
To make, for example, a file named book.txt invisible under Ubuntu, you need simply to add a dot to the beginning of its name. The name will be like this: .book.txt
Press F5 after renaming the file to hide it. To make the file visible again, press CTRL+H and remove the dot from the file's name. You can do the same with folders.
