In this tip we will show you a single command you can use from the terminal to empty trash under Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot. This command can be used instead of right clicking the Trash icon and selecting Empty Trash from the context menu.

Open the terminal and run this command to empty all files and folders stored in Trash:

sudo rm -rf ~/.local/share/Trash/*

[Note] Be careful when using the "rm" command because any misuse may result in deleting some other sensitive or system folders or files.
