In this tip we will see how to browse your files and folder as root via the Nautilus file manager under Ubuntu 11.10/11.04. This will help you edit, copy, paste, and move files and folders that require root privileges (file system) without using the terminal.

Getting Started

Open the terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run this command to browse Nautilus as root:

gksudo nautilus

You can now browse Nautilus as root and have all privileges for changing your file system:
