The codename for the next Ubuntu release (12.04 LTS) was revealed, this time was chosen as the Precise Pangolin, and release date scheduled for April 2012. As you know, Ubuntu developers release a new version for Ubuntu every six months, and an LTS release every 24 months.

This news was announced in Shuttleworth's blog, in which he highlighted the choice for this codename. The pangolin is an animal similar to an anteater, but its skin is covered with keratin scales for protecting the body.

The announcement of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) comes a few days before the official release of the stable version of Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot).
