Twitter and Facebook on Your Unity Dash Using Gwibber Lens - Ubuntu 11.10/11.04
Do you like this story?
Gwibber is an open source Linux microblogging client that is integrated by default in Ubuntu. This application allows to bring the most popular social network services (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) to your Ubuntu desktop. If you want to see your Facebook or Twitter updates directly in the Unity Dash, you need to install Gwibber Lens for Unity, which will stream all your social media messages in the Unity Dash.
Once installed, Gwibber Lens will allow you to view, search, reply, and update all your tweets directly from the Unity Dash interface. You can also filter search results so that you show only what you need:
Gwibber Lens Installation
To install Gwibber Lens on Ununtu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot, run simply this command:
sudo apt-get install unity-lens-gwibber
For Ubuntu 11.04, run these commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gwibber-team/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install unity-lens-gwibber
Reset now the Unity interface with this command (ALT+F2), or simply log out and log back in:
