Sushi (Gnome-Sushi) is a file previewer for Gnome 3.2 that allows users to preview files quickly in the Nautilus file manager. Using Sushi is very simple, you select any file then press the space bar to preview it.

Sushi can work on both Gnome Shell and Unity interfaces as well as on other file managers. With Sushi, you can preview:

  • Documents
  • PDF Files
  • Audio & Video Files, etc.
To install the Sushi file previewer on Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot, open the terminal and run this command:

sudo apt-get install gnome-sushi

Reset now the Nautilus file manager with this command:

nautilus -q

Select now any file (audio, video, PDF, etc.) and press the space bar to preview it:
