Opera Next or Opera 12 is the next Opera version that supports hardware acceleration for faster graphics, and even web applications and games run better in this version. Also 3D graphics can now be generated in Opera 12 thanks to WebGL (Web-based Graphics Library) support.

Opera Next comes also with a new lightweight user interface codenamed Featherweight, which is user-friendly and flexible. This version also brings a new HTML5 engine which allows now to mix SVG (vector graphics) with HTML.

In this guide we will show you how to install Opera Next on Ubuntu 11.10 Oneric Ocelot, but you can also install it on older Ubuntu versions (11.04/10.10). Opera 12 is available in alpha version.
