In this tip, we will see how to use the terminal to reverse audio files under Ubuntu/Debian. This is possible with the help of the "sox" command, which is an excellent command line tool that allows to reverse wav files.
To install sox on Ubuntu/Debian, run this command:
sudo apt-get install sox
To reverse a wav file, cd to its folder and run this command:
sox old-file.wav new-file.wav reverse
The reversed audio file will be created in the same folder.
The sox command doesn't support mp3 files, but you can convert them to wav using the "mpg123" tool. You can install it with this command:
sudo apt-get install mpg123
Then use this command to convert mp3 to wav:
mpg123 -w file.wav file.mp3
