GNOME Split is a utility that allows Ubuntu users to split or merge files. GNOME Split supports many file formats (.txt, .zip, .tar.gz, .rar, .sql etc.). To install GNOME Split on Ubuntu 11.10/11.04/10.10/10.04, launch the Terminal and run these commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome-split-team/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gnome-split

With GNOME Split, you can split files in chunks, bytes, kibibytes, mebibytes, gibibytes, CD-R (700 MB), or DVD-R (4.7 GB). The tool also provides many algorithms (Xtremsplit, KFK, YoyoCut, etc.). The file integrity is verified using the MD5 algorithm.
