Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot) Alpha 3 released in the last week which comes with many new features and some improvements have been done for the Unity interface. However, users of Ubuntu 11.10 will no longer find Synaptic Package Manager (a tool for managing Ubuntu packages).
As you know, Synaptic Package Manager allows to install new programs, remove unused packages, update old packages, add/remove package sources, fix broken packages, etc. In this article, we are going to help you restore Synaptic to Ubuntu 11.10.
So, launch the Terminal and run this command to install Synaptic Package Manager on Ubuntu 11.10:
sudo apt-get install synaptic
You can then start Synaptic via the dash.
