Ubuntu is configured by default to ask for user identifications to start a session once you reach the login screen. If you are the only user on your computer, you can configure Ubuntu to skip this login screen at startup and directly load your session automatically.

Get Started

1. Press the Windows key to bring up the dash (Ubuntu 11.04), then search "login screen" and open it.

2. Click Unlock and submit your root password.

3. Select "Log in as {User} automatically" and click Close.

4. Your session will now be loaded automatically at next system startup.
