In this tutorial, we will see how to install Workspaces Indicator on Ubuntu 10.04/10.10/11.04. Workspaces Indicator is an alternative to default panel applet switcher, which allows users to easily switch between workspaces using a simple context menu displayed on the upper panel.

Workspaces Indicator Installation

Launch the terminal and issue these commands:

 sudo add-apt-repository ppa:geod/ppa-geod
 sudo apt-get update
 sudo apt-get install indicator-workspaces

After launching the application, an icon with a number will be displayed on the upper panel, click it and select a workspace to open it.

To add more workspaces, select Preferences, then add as many workspaces as you want.

That's it.
