Avant Window Navigator (AWN) is a dock bar for applications, it also allows to display the list of all opened windows. You can easily modify display settings of this dock bar as well as adding more launchers. You can modify border colors, background, shadow, font color, corner types, etc.
In this guide, we will see how to install Avant Window Navigator on Ubuntu 10.04/10.10. Before proceeding to the installation of AWN, you have to uninstall any previous version of this dock bar.
Avant Window Navigator Installation
Open the terminal (Applications >> Accessories >> Terminal) and issue these commands to install AWN on Ubuntu:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:awn-testing/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install avant-window-navigator-trunk avant-window-navigator-data-trunk python-awn-trunk awn-settings-trunk awn-applets-python-core-trunk python-awn-extras-trunk awn-applets-python-extras-trunk awn-applets-c-core-trunk awn-applets-c-extras-trunk
To start AWN, refer to Applications > Accessories > Avant Window Navigator.
